The Interaction Mechanism of Papaya Seeds (Carica papaya L.) as a Natural Coagulant and Remazol Red Under Different pH Conditions

Batik wastewater contains a high concentration of dye that comes from the batik dyeing process. In this study, papaya seeds were applied as natural coagulant to reduce remazol red in wastewater. Dried characterized using Fourier Transform Infrared Spectroscopy (FTIR). The coagulation method used batch pH range 1-6. FTIR spectra showed contained compounds with -NH2 and -COOH functional groups. results had an effect on ability red. optimum condition was obtained at 2 decrease by 96.1%. interaction occurs between is through electrostatic interactions.
